Route Overview:
43.2 km, 1,240m elevation anti-clockwise loop of the Kerry Way, starting in Waterville, heading south up over Coomakista, dropping down the Mass Path to Derrynane Beach, climbing back up to Eagle Hill (the highest point on the Kerry Way), dropping back down into Glenmore at the Eastern end of Lough Currane, ascending back up to Termons ridge to the North of Lough Currane and then finally returning to finish in Waterville village. A fully way marked route including rough mountainside, single track and tarred road. Stunning area of natural beauty, including majestic sea views, rugged mountain passes and foothills, lake and island vistas, and a fantastic 5km ridge run offering unparalleled views across Ballinskelligs Bay. Entry fee is non refundable and non transferable.
Full race day instructions will be emailed to entrants a minimum of 4 weeks before race day.

Rules:
Entrants must be over 18 years of age.
The official Kerry Way, national way marked route, must be followed as marked on the day.
No short cuts are allowed.
Runners will be required to cover the replacement cost of a lost or damaged tracker.
Race number must be worn in a clearly visible position throughout the race.
This is a LEAVE NO TRACE event, littering will result in disqualification.
Blocking of local access by crew/spectators will disqualify the associated runner.

Mandatory race kit:
A fully waterproof taped rain jacket.
Hat & gloves.
A fully charged mobile phone must be carried at all times.
GPS tracker provided by Waterville Trailrunning Festival.
Paper map of the route OR a GPS devise with the route loaded onto it.
Compass.
Whistle.
Survival bivvy or foil blanket.
First Aid Kit (containing a least 2 sticking plasters, 1 conforming bandage and 1 triangular bandage/sling)
Means to carry 500ml or more of water (bottle or reservoir).

WTF 2025 EVENT INSTRUCTIONS 43KM
 
SIGN IN AND NUMBER COLLECTION:
@ The Lobster Bar & Restaurant, Waterville
06:30 – 08:30 Sunday, 4th May
 
Please ensure to bring 1 form of ID and your running pack (as we will need to attach your tracker) with you when signing in. You do not need to display your mandatory race kit when signing in, it will be checked at the start.
 
RACE START TIME:
09:00 Sunday, 4th May @ Mick O’Dwyer Park, Waterville
All participants must arrive no later than 08:45 for the final pre race instructions. Anyone arriving after the instructions have commenced will not be permitted to start.
 
START/FINISH:
The race will start and finish @ Mick O’Dwyer Park, Waterville

DROP BAGS:
No drop bag facility is in place for this event.

RACE CUT-OFF:
We have strict cut off times for all events and if it is missed the result recorded will be a DNF and no finishers medal will be awarded.
Finish Line Cut-off 18:00 (9 Hours).
 
RACE RULES:
All entrants must be over 18 years of age on the day of the race.

Race numbers can be worn front or back in any location provided the full number is clearly visible at all times during the race.
This is a LEAVE NO TRACE event, littering will result in disqualification and this rule will be strictly enforced through all races.

CREW SUPPORT:
Crew support is permitted on any national road, but is strictly prohibited on any trail or off-road sections. Please park responsibly if you are providing support as any cars blocking access or in breach of the rules of the road could result in your runner being disqualified from the event.

FINISHERS MEMORABILIA:
All finishers will receive a finishers medal at the finish line.
 
FOOD & REFRESHMENTS:
Snacks and refreshments such as water, tea, coffee, soup, fruit, sweet and savoury snacks will be provided after the finish for all participants. Directions will be provided on the day.

AID STATION:
There will be one aid station (Paul’s Halfway House) at 22km which will have water, tea, coffee, soup, fruit, sweet and savoury snacks. No drop bags are permitted at Paul’s Halfway House, any items left there will be eaten, drunk or disposed of by Paul himself. The start/finish area will also have an aid station with water, tea, coffee, soup, fruit, sweet and savoury snacks.
 
TOILETS, SHOWERS AND CHANGING FACILITIES:
Ladies and gents showers, changing rooms and bathrooms will be available to all participants at Waterville GAA grounds (approximately 300 meters from the start/finish area).
 
PARKING:
Free parking will be available at Waterville IRD Car Park and also Waterville GAA grounds (approximately 300 meters from the start/finish area).
 
AWARDS CEREMONY:
Medals will be presented at the finish line and a short awards ceremony for all of the festival events including trophy presentations to 1st Male and 1st Female will take place in The Lobster Bar, Waterville on Sunday, 4th May @ 18:30.
